Meditation

In it’s purest form, meditation is the practice of bringing the mind to a single point of concentration.  This is the necessary first step toward the primary purpose of meditation which is the transcendence of the small self or ego, and the awakening to the True Self and the awareness of our oneness with Spirit, which is also referred to as Enlightenment.

Whether your concentrating on the breath, a mantra, or just silence, the foundation of  meditation is pure one pointed attention. Fortunately, there are a number of different techniques and practices that can help us to redirect our attention from the incessant activities of the “monkey mind.”  Once a person is able to hold one pointed attention for a few minutes, they are then ready to advance into more subtle practices.  The meditation to the right is designed to help facilitate sustained attention.

Within our archives you’ll find guided meditations as well as instruction in specific techniques.
